London Calling...

Next week, my husband and I are traveling to London for the first time. We're so incredibly excited!

There won't be any blog posts until we get back, but I can't wait to share photos (and purchases, because obviously) with you all when we return!

If any of you have been to/live in London, I'd love some recommendations!

Bon voyage, everyone! :)

I'm loving: Pink Lagoon Stylo Eyeshadow by Chanel

posted on: 5.08.2013

Welcome to my collection, little one. ;)

This past weekend, I received the limited edition Chanel Stylo eyeshadow in Pink Lagoon from my lovely sister as an early birthday gift (thanks, sis!). I'm not a big makeup wearer, especially eyeshadows, but I'm also a sucker for anything and everything Chanel. So naturally I was quite ecstatic to try this.

I can definitely tell you this will be my go-to eyeshadow for a good, long while.

It may not look like much, but appearances can be deceiving.

First of all, I love the packaging. Part of the reason I don't wear eyeshadow very often is that I hate having to apply it - call me lazy, but I just don't want to take the time to mess around with brushes and blending and precision. The fact that I can simply twist this up and swipe it on is extremely appealing, and will ensure that I wear it more often. All it takes is a few strokes and boom! You're ready to go.

And the color?

I mean, it's hard to this justice with words. Ya know?

Pink Lagoon is a shimmery, rosy pink that is gorgeous on the eyes. I love that I can use a light hand and be as subtle as I want, and still have a beautiful metallic effect that looks amazing in the right light.

At $34 a pop it isn't cheap, but I'd say that for Pink Lagoon, at least, it's totally worth it.

What are you loving lately? Please share in the comments!

I did a little shopping...: Essie & Illamasqua

L-R: Madison Ave-Hue, Hip-anema & Go Ginza (by Essie), Mottle (by Illamasqua)

When it comes to nail polish, I'm notoriously weak-willed. I have a whole drawer full that I honestly need to weed through, but does that stop me from buying more?

Apparently not. Ah well, we all have our vices, don't we? ;)

Here are the polishes I've picked up lately. First up, Essie:
  • Madison Ave-Hue - This is such a pretty, bright pink with a very subtle shimmer. It goes opaque in two coats, and I absolutely love it. So feminine and girly!
  • Hip-anema - A vibrant red with a hint of orange, it's the perfect polish for Summer. I can imagine this would look amazing with a tan (I can't speak from experience, as I'm still pale as  a ghost. Boo.), and it's what I currently have on my toes. Again, goes opaque in two coats.
  • Go Ginza - I haven't tried this yet, but it's definitely next at bat. It's a beautiful pastel lavender, and a welcome change from all the super bold polishes that are normally the trend for warmer months.
And finally, by Illamasqua:
  • Mottle - I'd been on the hunt for the speckled Illamasqua polishes ever since they were released a few months back, and for the longest time I'd had no luck. But last week, while randomly browsing through Sephora, I spotted this little beauty on the shelf. It was the last one, so naturally I snapped it up. I have it on my nails right now, and it's flippin' gorgeous. The speckled mint green reminds me of Easter eggs (which sounds like it would look weird, but trust me, it's totally the opposite), and I just can't stop looking at my nails. I definitely would love to get my hands on the other ones.
Have you picked up anything interesting lately? Let me know in the comments!

Yea or Nay: Tartan

Yea or Nay: Tartan

Topshop skater dress / Oversized sweater / Ribbed shirt / Dolce & Gabbana tartan pants / Vivienne Westwood Gold Label leather shoes / Converse black shoes / Faux leather boots / Jas MB knapsack bag / Diesel jewelry / David Aubrey chain necklace / Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses / Floppy hat

It seems the 90s are upon us again, now that tartan is trending. As a total 90s kid I'm not gonna lie, I'm rather happy to see it making a comeback. I'd love to throw on a tartan skirt with a baggy sweater and combat boots - I'd totally be channeling Tai from Clueless, but who says there's anything wrong with that? ;)

What say you - yea, or nay?

Simple Saturday

Saturdays have always been my favorite day of the week. And when they're super relaxed - like this past Saturday - it doesn't get any better. My husband and I enjoyed a coffee date at one of our favorite coffee shops in L.A. (Coffee Commissary, I couldn't recommend it more). Afterward, we headed over to the Americana in Glendale, which is absolutely gorgeous at night.

A much needed refuel. And now I'm ready to tackle the week. :)

What did you do over the weekend? Let me know in the comments!
